Promoting the Cross-Border Sustainable Use of Oder Fish Stocks
Commercial and recreational fisheries on the Oder River have significant economic, social, and cultural value for the region. However, the use and management of fisheries in transboundary rivers is highly complex. Work Package 3 of the OderZusammen-OdraRazem project aims to promote sustainable use through joint management across national borders. We are establishing platforms that facilitate exchange and improve understanding of the two fisheries systems. Based on this, we will develop concrete measures for shared fisheries management.
At the same time, we aim to harmonize methods for data collection and analysis across countries. To achieve this, we seek to work closely with representatives of relevant authorities and fisheries associations. The activities will focus on a pilot study in the Middle Oder within the programme area.
